Two people who were not quite friends a long time ago share some painful secrets in a remote airport in this independent drama. Richard (Daniel Rhyder) and Tiffany (Stacey Miller) both attended the same small town high school, where he was one of the geeky guys in the Drama Club and she was a pretty and popular cheerleader. Richard and Tiffany took very different paths in life after they graduated, and haven't seen one another in fifteen years when they meet in an airport, where they're temporarily stuck due to bad weather. As it happens, Tiffany is flying to Los Angeles from her old hometown of Grand Falls, while Richard is traveling from L.A. back to Grand Falls, and with time on their hands, the two begin to talk. Over the course of a long night, casual conversation gives way to some deep soul searching as they both reveal where their lives have gone wrong in the last decade and a half, how they've been touched by death and betrayal, and why they're running away from their pasts towards an uncertain future. Layover was the first dramatic feature from writer and director April Wright, and received its world premiere at the 2009 Cinequest Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
